Board of Directors

Our co-counder and past president, Tim McLaughlin, has resigned and is no longer associated with The Turtle Center. The Turtle Center is not associated with Turtle Center in Salinas, California.
We are actively seeking new board members for the Turtle Center.

Lisa Lowell

Originally from California, Lisa now resides in Austin, Texas. As a young girl in the agricultural San Joaquin Valley, she cared her first turtle, a Clemmys marmorata named Myrtle. At home in Austin today, she keeps many different species of tortoises, the most intelligent border collie named Bonnie, and a poison dart frogs of the species Dendrobates tinctorius. She cares for all animals and has focus on turtles and tortoises. Her interests in enriching the environments of captive turtles and tortoises are realized through The Turtle Center’s Captive Sanctuary program.

She holds B.A. degrees in Anthropology and English from the University of Texas at Austin, where she also completed a certificate program in Management of Nonprofit Organizations. She is retired, married, a mother to one handsome young adult son living in Austin.

Lisa, a co-founder of The Turtle Center, sits on the governing board and fulfills the duties of secretary and treasurer. Lisa served on the Steering Committee of the Turtle Survival Alliance, holding the office of secretary. Lisa is a full-time volunteer.

David Moll

Originally from Missouri, David is now a naturalized Texan living in Austin. Inspired by several influential educators, he discovered an aptitude for number crunching and working with computers somewhere along the way and now dedicates his working hours to these activities. Father of a brilliant and creative teenage son and married to his lovely and talented college sweetheart, he likes to spend much of his free time with his family in their self-built house near the shores of Lake Travis west of Austin. He has been a lifelong animal lover and supporter of various environmental conservation efforts.

He holds an A.S. in Mathematics from Austin Community College, a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin, and an MBA from St. Edward's University. He currently teaches Algebra and Geometry at Travis High School in Austin.

David, is the Chief Financial Officer of The Turtle Center.
